2022 single channel video, 33 mins 40 seconds
The title "Lions, Lies, and Love" pays homage to the films of Agnès Varda. However, for me, the lion represents desire, lies symbolize dialogue, and love remains the eternal theme we continually pursue. The video revolves around the question, "If I had nothing, would you still love me?" This question is woven throughout the entire work, exploring the confusion, pressure, and complex emotions experienced by the younger generation within the context of family relationships. It delves into the transition and diffusion from social relationships to intimate ones, examining the meaning of love. Furthermore, it contemplates whether there will be an answer when this question confronts moments of faith and death. The majority of the dialogue is conducted in dialect, showcasing local life and perspectives.
